WOAO? Premiere–They’re Coming, They’re Seeing, They’re Sampling!

Monday night on the oh so auspicious day of the Summer Solstice, WOAO? opened the doors of HERE’s Dorothy B. Williams Theater in New York City to a sell out crowd! What an excellent way to start out the national tour and Green & Screen campaign : )  For those of you who missed the Shinn Estate Vinyard‘s free sampling on Monday, you can still taste their biodynamic, organic treats at our NOFA-NY Benefit Party this Friday night, following the screening/panel (at 9 pm).  We’ll also have organic beer from Wolaver‘s food from Gorzynski’s farm (featured in the film!). Tickets to the party are $20 (including free drink & food), so all proceeds will go to NOFA-NY!

In other exciting news, in an effort to support the Florida farm featured in the film, What’s Organic About Organic? has source wonderfully delicious organic watermelons from Bellevue Gardens Organic Farm to New York City restaurants in time for the premiere!  Per Se, Savoy, Back Forty, Bobo, Casa Mono, Del Posto, Otto and Dom Hudson Sq Cafe will be creating delectable dishes with the melons specially for the premiere.

And we have not forgotten the great parents out there! This weekend we will have matinee screenings at 2pm  followed by some kid friendly workshops both Saturday and Sunday, so bring the kids and come learn some fun stuff about food & soil!  Plus, two of our Outreach Partners are providing free samples for our families!   We’ll have organic snacks from Late July and organic orange juice from Uncle Matt’s!

Premiere week continues on with tonight’s guests from GrowNYC, NY Ag & Mkts, NY Watershed Council & The Stone Barns Center for Food and Agriculture. If you’re in the neighborhood stop on by, but if you’re out in the countryside, you can watch a live webcast at 8pm of the panel discussion. Simply go to our website and click on the WOAO live stream at the bottom and voila!

Be sure to tune in to the Heritage Food Radio Network online at 5 o’clock today to hear Shelley (director of WOAO?) along with Tommy and Lois from Bellevue Gardens Organic Farms talking about the Crimson Sweets that they’ve been growing since 1964 on the farm they founded with WOAO? co-producer & character Marty Mesh!

Hope to see you at a screening this week, but you can also host your own, so check out our Screen & Green Campaign!
